A few months ago we noticed that Will's left eye would wander to the side when he was tired. I asked about it at his 3 year appt, and our pediatrician recommended that we see a pediatric opthamologist. Today we did!
Will has a muscle that is too tight in his eye - this pulls and causes his eye to wander. To fix this, Will is having surgery on June 7. He will have general anesthesia for a 30 minute procedure, but it has a 95% chance of fixing the issue which is great.
Will's doctor, Dr Stager, is the same doctor that performed this same surgery on Chad 20 years ago! It worked like a charm for Chad, so here's hoping it does the same for Will!

Prayers and good thoughts to Will... and to you too Suzie! As "simple" as it may sound, any surgery to your child is frightening. My oldest had to have general anesthesia earlier this year for ear tubes and to get his adnoids out... everything went great but I know it is nerve wracking nonetheless. hugs - Lair
ReplyDeleteHi Suzie! Dr. Stager (in Dallas, right ?) fixed my strabismus when I was 2 1/2, and my sister's when she was like 7!! Everything went well for both of us. It will go great for Will, too! All 3 of my kids had day surgery for ear tubes and I was a nervous wreck each time. So sending you peaceful vibes. These things can be hard on a mama! :)

Bennett wears glasses for strabismus and I cried when I found out because he couldn't see and I didn't know it. Hoping the surgery goes well and you don't have to ever think about it again! --Jenn W
