Solid Foods

We started Katie on solid foods the day she turned 4m old!  We did this with Will when he was 4m, so we decided to do the same with Katie.

Well, she loves it.  She opens her mouth wide when she sees the spoon.  She keeps the food in which was surprising as I was hoping for some cute pictures of food all over her face.  Maybe that will come later.  For now, she seems to enjoy bananas, sweet potatoes and butternut squash.

Rolling over

 Katie rolled over!  We all missed it, but it happened!  Loli put Katie in her crib on her tummy while she was putting away her clothes, and then she went to pick her up and Katie was on her back.

I remember how I really wanted Will to roll over.  He didn't do it in the "normal" timeframe, and so I worried about him.  With Katie, I know she will hit all the milestones, but I am all for her taking her time.  Sometimes it already really feels like she is growing up too quickly - and she is only 4m old!

On a side note, I started this blog the day Will rolled over - here is my first post almost 2 years ago...

What Will's Doing

 Will is having a fabulous summer.  He is wanting to do many things himself - we hear lots of "me do it"/"I do it" and "me help!"  Often he even wants to walk instead of riding in the stroller.

Since he doesn't mind the heat, he loves playing outside at the park and going swimming.  He just started swim lessons as well.  It seems perfect timing as Will would stand beside the baby pool - which is 2 feet deep - and would say "I dive in!"  He likes to jump in and he is going under water on his own.  I really enjoy taking him to the pool - he is just so fun.

While I haven't taken my camera to the pool yet, I have a bunch of pictures of Will doing the things he loves these days. Here are just a few.
Filling up his digger with sand
Dumping the sand from his digger to the dump truck

Catching bubbles

Getting in Maggie's bag - he likes us to zip him up

He loves it!

Enjoying some (very sticky) frozen lemonade

Playing in the rocks

Climbing trees

Playing with Maddie

Deciding which of his clothes should go to his new cousin, baby Andrew (arriving in Aug/Sept!)

Carrying his boppies everywhere he goes in the house

Playing in the kitchen drawers

Making burgers

Eating cupcakes (and licking the icing off his fingers)

Doing anything with Uncle Chuck!

He loves the happy birthday song, so we got him his own musical card

Girls are tough!

Girls are tough!  That is what the nurse said to me today after Katie got her 4m shots and oral vaccine.  She didn't even really cry - she let out some sound that let us know she wasn't happy, but it lasted for less than 3 seconds and then she was happily sitting on my lap.  She is tough!  I don't think Will cried much, but he did cry and I don't blame him.

I look at her and can't help but to fall more in love with her everyday.  Katie is the sweetest and happiest little baby.  When I see her pictures, I hear Stevie Wonder's "Isn't she lovely" playing in my head.  I definitely feel the lyrics apply.

Isn't she lovely
Isn't she wonderful
Isn't she precious
Less than 5 months old
I never thought through love we'd be
Making one as lovely as she
But isn't she lovely made from love

Isn't she pretty
Truly the angel's best
Boy, I'm so happy
We have been heaven blessed
I can't believe what God has done
through us he's given life to one
But isn't she lovely made from love

let the teething begin!

4 months old!

Our sweet little girl is already 4 months old!  I have to say I am sad at how quickly this is going.  Since we do not plan to have more kiddos, I am really savoring everyday with Katie.  She is such a sweet content baby who melts my heart with her big smiles and loud coos.  I love her big blue eyes that light up when she smiles.  I love her little rolls of baby fat on her arms and legs.  I love seeing her little personality shining through.  To me she is the cutest little bundle of pure joy.

This month Katie:

* weighs 16lbs!  (92%)

* is 25.5 inches long (90%)

* has a head circumference of 41.5cm (75%)

found her feet!  She will hold them and play with them.

* will hold onto my finger and then pull it into her mouth and chew on it.  While this probably means she is teething, it has been fun to see her eye-hand coordination develop.

* loves watching what is going on around her.  She will follow Maggie with her eyes and loves watching the kids play at the park everyday.

* prefers to be sitting up.  When she is in her car seat in the stroller, she trys to pulls herself up to sit.

* continues to be a good sleeper - currently going to bed around 830p and I usually wake her up for 830a so I can have some time with her before work.

* eats about 6oz when taking a bottle
