Rockin' the new 'do

 I am loving Katie's new haircut.  It looks super cute on her, and it no longer requires a bow.  I love a bow, don't get me wrong, but trying to keep a bow in a 13 month old's hair is challenging if not impossible.

I took these on Wed, and it's Friday and about 30 degrees cooler.  It's funny to look through my pictures where Katie goes from a bubble one day to a sweater dress and tights the next.  We have had the craziest winter weather!

Just doing his job!

We are hitting a new stage in our house - both literally and figuratively.  I think Will gets frustrated with Katie now that she is much more mobile.  I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is that gets to him, but I'm trying to figure it out.  It might just be normal sibling stuff.  I'm just not sure yet.

Yesterday we were playing in Katie's room.  Suddenly Katie was crying, so I asked Will - why is Katie crying?  He answered - Because I bonked her on the head with this (and he shows me a little pillow). 

I asked him why he did that and he replied - Because it's my job.

I laughed.  His answers catch me off guard.  I need to practice my responses!

It's funny because he confesses quickly.  He doesn't try to hide what he did.  Maybe that comes later.  The "because it's my job" response gets me though.  Is it in the DNA of little boys to do these things to their sisters?  It just might be... we shall see!

Katie's First Haircut

Today Katie had her first haircut.  When her hair wasn't in a bow, she was constanting blowing it out of her face.  It was time!

We went to see my hairdresser Kristin.  She did a great job trimming her hair.  Katie was a good sport about the whole thing - she sat in my lap for most of it.

Almost Walking

 Katie has been almost walking for over a week.  She can take 10-15 steps on her own, but she still crawls more than walks so I don't think it is official yet.  Here is my first picture of her walking to me - she is finally far enough away that I can get a full body shot.  She looks confident!

The Park

 The bad thing about our part of town is that many houses (including ours) do not have a yard.  The good news is there are park everywhere!  I think it is safe to say that the kids are at a park 6 out of 7 days a week, sometimes 7 out of 7.

Yesterday it was 80+ degrees here in Dallas.  For me, this is just too warm for March.  I would prefer it a little cooler, but the upside is I get to put Katie in all these darling little summer outfits.  Today I took put her in the stroller barefoot and we stopped by a little kids store on the way to the park to buy her some sandals.  I am sure we will go through a few pairs of these this summer!

Another perk of the park is that there are always other families there.  Yesterday there was a little 5 year old named Beazie who fell in love with Katie.  She pushed her in the swing, helped her up and down the slide, and generally played the role of a big sister/babysitter.  It was really sweet, and I am not sure who had the best time of the 3 of us.

Katie

 I have had some great afternoon time with Katie these past few days.  She is such a joy to play with and it definitely makes me forget everything else that  happened in my day.  She is my little escape.  She smiles and laughs at the cutest things and it is as if she is trying to say some words but so far can only get the first letter out.  She will point to her fan and make an "fa" sound or when she plays with Will's mop she says "ma".  When she wants me to do something again, she said "a".  It's sweet to be at this stage with her.  It is hard to remember that Will didn't talk - seems like we have been conversing with him forever. 

The baby stages all pass so quickly.  I am really enjoying them this time!

HPPDS this fall!

Will got into our first choice for schools for the fall - HPPDS!  He will be going M, W, F in the mornings.  The school is right down the street, so I am excited that we will get to walk him to school!  Also, there is a great park across the street, so Loli and Katie can spend the mornings there and then pick Will up around noon.  It really is a great arrangement and we are so happy that we were accepted.

Will is going to wear a uniform which should be super cute.  I think he is going to love school!
